WHEN WAS THE BACKHOE LOADER INVENTED?
The backhoe loader was first invented back in 1947 by Holopainen and Roy E. Handy Jr. The modern day backhoe loader originated from the idea of a tractor with a hydraulic backhoe. It was coincidental that the backhoe loader was born, after fitting hydraulic digging equipment to the rear of a tractor.
When the backhoe went on sale in 1948 in America, the company sold 24 units. Between 1948 and 1954, 7000 backhoes were made and sold. Meanwhile, in the UK, JCB began the creation of the popular JCB that we all know and love today. The first hydraulic loader was launched in 1948.
